Los Caletones
There are several great areas to stay in Lanzarote. You’ll also find several supermarkets here, though there are fewer than in other areas of the island.
Arrecife
This is the capital city of Lanzarote and is a popular tourist destination. It has a small population of just under 56,000 people and largely depends on tourism. While there are parts of the city that are quite touristy, other parts are much more traditional and Spanish in character. The city’s waterfront is picturesque and its harbour is lined with rowing boats. The city is also home to one of Lanzarote’s longest beaches with turquoise waters.
For an easy way to explore Arrecife, take a bus. There are numerous bus lines, which are cheap and well-connected. You can even get an app to check out your bus schedule. Once you’re in Arrecife, make sure you check out the city’s nightlife.
Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is a fantastic area to stay in Lanzarote for a variety of reasons. It has golden sand and a range of beach toys, including Jet skis and pedalos. It is also close to the city centre, making it a great choice for families. For people who don’t have their own cars, Playa Blanca has a large indoor shopping centre. It is also the furthest town from the airport, which is just 30 minutes away by car. You can also take public transport which costs EUR3.3. However, you should consider that there are few bus stops within the area and so a car is usually your best option.
The area is well-known for its golden sandy beaches, which have won the European blue flag for their cleanliness. Its restaurants offer a range of cuisines, from traditional Spanish food to seafood. If you’re a big fan of seafood, you should try out the restaurants along the beach promenade. Marina Rubicon is another great place to find a good seafood restaurant. The climate is incredibly mild, with just 140mm of rain a year.
